Daytona State College has enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all accounts using Microsoft MFA.

Microsoft MFA uses the Microsoft Authenticator smartphone app and/or your mobile phone number. These authentication methods are set up when you enroll in Self-Service Password Reset  (SSPR) so you must be enrolled in Self-Service Password Reset  (SSPR) to use Microsoft MFA.

You will be prompted for MFA when you log in to any online service at DSC, such as:

Depending on what you set as your default authentication method when enrolling in SSPR. You will see one of the following screens when logging in.

  1. If using the Microsoft Authenticator App, two numerical digits are generated for the login session and will be visible on your computer screen.

Digits presented on your screen to be inputted into the Authenticator app
These same two digits will need to be manually entered into the smartphone app before being able to approve the login request. This new method prevents approvals by accident or due to fatigue and enhances the security of your account.

Please note that this number matching MFA only works with the Microsoft Authenticator app. Currently, you cannot use any other authenticator app such as Google Authenticator for number matching.

  2. If using your mobile phone number for text, you will receive a text message with a verification code to provide on this screen on your computer..

    submit a code for MFA

  3. You must verify your MFA settings twice a year. When your settings are due for verification, you will receive this screen. If no changes are needed, select the Ok button. Select the Edit info button to make any changes.

  1. What if someone opted to use a different authentication app, like Google Authenticator? I don't think there is a capacity for it to verify with those 2 numbers sent to your phone.
